1. General

Thank you for using or showing interest in the smartphone app ‘Tick Prevention’ (henceforth referred to as the ‘smartphone app’). This privacy policy applies to the preventative ‘Tick’ app. This privacy policy applies to the preventative ‘Tick’ app. The publisher and technical developer adhere to the following guidelines: The smartphone app does not collect any data other than that needed to fulfil its purpose.

2. Purpose

The map in the smartphone app shows current and potential areas of risk for Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The user records tick bites and sightings in the tick diary. The built-in reminder feature instructs the user to check any affected body part. If symptoms of infection are seen during a check, a doctor should be consulted. Anonymously submitted bite and sighting data are visible to all users as pink or turquoise dots on the interactive risk map.

3. Data collected and processed by the smartphone app

• Tick recordings: geographical coordinates where the bite occurred, date, affected body part, age range, gender, activity undertaken when bitten
• Tick sighting: geographical coordinates of the tick, location information, date
• • Tick bite check: observation , date when the check was performed

The smartphone app does not send any data to a server other than data the server requires to fulfil its purpose/function.

4. Data sent from the smartphone app to the server

The publisher and the developer, the smartphone app and the data servers do not pass on any user-specific data to third parties, unless this is made clear to the user, and they have expressly given their consent.

5. Preventative ‘Tick’ app web page: zecke-tique-tick.ch

The preventative ‘Tick’ app website www.zecke-tique-tick.ch uses Google Analytics to generate anonymous usage statistics. The publisher has partial access to this data. Google Analytics optionally support the collection of additional information, such as demographic data or user interests. These are not used for the web page www.zecke-tique-tick.ch

6. Location services

The smartphone app determines the position of the user. When using the app, it is either completely clear why the app does this (for example, to show the location on a map) or the app explains why it wants to do so and seeks the consent of the user.

Current or historical location information is never communicated externally or tracked by the ‘Tick Prevention’ app, unless the user explicitly shares their location with someone else, or if the user explicitly gives their consent to do so at each sharing process step, for example, when the geographical location where a tick bite occurred is to be sent to a server for anonymous processing.

7. Personal details / personal data

The smartphone app asks the user to report personal information such as age, gender and activity undertaken when bitten by a tick or at a sighting of a tick. The report of this parameters is optional, the user submits the data with explicit agreement to the dataserver. All collected data is anonymous and cannot be traced back to the originator. Each recorded data set includes the anonymous device code of the recording device, however, no connection to the originator can be established.

8. Access to user data

The smartphone app may require access to further information on the device such as: the anonymous device identification number, contact information, calendar and photo library. In these cases, it is either obvious why the app requires this access, or the user is explicitly asked for permission. Data acquired in this way by the app is not communicated externally by the app unless the user deliberately shares it (via Twitter, Facebook, SMS, etc.), or the user explicitly gives their consent to this.

Information retrieved by the app:

• Appointments: recording of tick bites and tick bite checks by the user and reminders to check tick bites after 5, 10 and 28 days.
• Anonymous device identification number when transmitting data sets
